I’ve been touched deeply in recent months by kindness received from unexpected places and in unexpected ways. Kindness comforts Kindness reassures Kindness listens Kindness infuses hope
What/whose kindness can you be thanking God for this month?
Are you facing any particular challenges or problems this month?
Trust In God (not someone or something else) With ALL your heart (not just a bit) Trust that His way is best, that He loves & cares for you, that He will intervene or help you endure. Trust in His character – & His promises.
Believe in His wisdom & insight rather than relying on your own understanding of the situation. Ask Him to show you if your priorities or perspective might not be in tandem with His.
Yield to His love for you, and for all people. Yield to His will & His ways that are steeped in His love & His heart for everyone.
And He WILL direct you. He WILL lead you in decisions, actions & responses that honour His presence in your life.
Springtime. Such an uplifting time of the year as baby birds appear in hedgerows, delicate blossom adorns trees, and splashes of vibrant blues, pinks and yellows appear in the garden. It’s a time for sowing seed. And a time to keep on top of the fast-growing weeds!
For some of us it may be a prompt to reflect on our own season of life: Is there anything we need to start sowing? What weeds do we need to clear and stop taking hold? Are we living with intention to nuture a future harvest? Are we in a season of enforced rest, of activity or harvest? Or like young birds that outgrow the nest, is it time to move on?
Know peace in the season you’re in and accept it for what it is, doing what it suggests you might do. And if it’s time to move on, take what you’ve learned but don’t look back.
Without receiving we have nothing meaningful to give.
If you follow a tradition of giving up something for Lent (starting March 2nd) perhaps something to lay aside might be the ‘noise’ of the world. You’ll know what shape or form that takes for you.
And instead, still the inner hurriedness that might help you (& me) ‘listen’ more attentively, and in turn, respond more meaningfully.
There’s a lot to be said about reflecting on a word for the year to encourage & focus intentions. I sensed what mine would be mid-December.
But how much more so when God inspires His own word from scripture to our hearts by His Spirit. And how reassuring when these words resonate with each other!
When you discern His personal word from scripture to you, be assured it will be fulfilled – in His way & time.
‘Delight yourselves in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.’ Psalm 37:4
As we delight ourselves in God, He conceives His desires in our hearts which of course He will in time give birth to. But I wonder how often we find ourselves delighting in God only when we get an answer we want….
Jesus said that ‘your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This, then, is how you should pray….’ (Matthew 6:8). Sit with His words and be open to how He wants to root their truth in your heart. I won’t go so far as to suggest you only pray His prayer throughout October, but perhaps you might like to pray it slowly – with thought and sincerity – at least once each day through the month….?
